Adeleke Launches Ambitious N159 Billion Infrastructure Plan for Osun State

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has launched an ambitious N159 billion infrastructure development plan targeting key sectors such as road construction, education, and healthcare.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Executive Council Lounge, Governor’s Office, Abere, Osogbo.

The infrastructure plan prioritizes road construction with N101.8 billion allocated to various projects aimed at improving transportation and stimulating economic growth across the state. Key projects include:

Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State Boundary Road: Reconstruction project valued at N5.94 billion.

Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara State Boundary Road: Reconstruction effort budgeted at N13.7 billion.

Ejigbo-Isoko-Aye-Oguro Road: A 5.1-kilometer reconstruction project estimated at N3.02 billion.

Odo Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction Dualisation: Dualisation of a 6.65-kilometer road, including a spur to Oluwo Palace, with a budget of N10.42 billion.

Governor Adeleke stressed that all projects would be completed without borrowing, ensuring the state’s financial stability. “We have not borrowed a dime for any of these projects,” he confirmed during the announcement.

In the education sector, N1.98 billion has been set aside for extensive renovation and construction efforts in various schools. Notable projects include:

Ede High School, Ede: Renovation of the school hall and pavilion, costing N50.2 million.

Agbonran School of Science, Ede South: Renovation works valued at N200 million.

Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School, Ile-Ife: An upgrade with an allocation of N149.5 million.

Ogedengbe School of Science, Ilesa: Classrooms and hall renovations at a cost of N137 million.

These renovations are expected to provide students with improved learning environments throughout the state.

The healthcare sector will also benefit from the plan, with N2.76 billion set aside for the complete renovation of 124 primary healthcare centres across Osun State. Governor Adeleke emphasized that this move aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for all residents.

According to the governor, the projects will be funded through state allocations, internally generated revenue (IGR), and special funds recovered from the federal government.

“We are embarking on another round of massive infrastructure upgrades… I assure our people that we will not take any loans to execute these projects,” Adeleke assured the public.

Progress reports on ongoing projects include the Ilesa Dualisation Project and Ile-Ife Flyover, both at 60% completion, the Oke-Fia Flyover at over 90% completion, and the LAMECO Flyover at 50% execution.

The governor’s administration has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering these projects within the current fiscal year, bolstering Osun State’s infrastructure framework.
