As the 2025 Anambra governorship elections draw closer, the political landscape appears skewed in favor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), with opposition parties facing internal crises and uncertainty.
In a statement by Mazi Ejimofor Opara, a political analyst, he described APGA as the only stable and organized party heading into the primary election season. He claimed that opposition parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are grappling with significant challenges that have left them in “intensive care,” struggling for survival.
“The APC in Anambra has been deserted by anyone with a modicum of integrity. It has become a fractured group where the center cannot hold,” Opara alleged. He further criticized the Labour Party, describing it as a “group of wannabes” relying on luck rather than strategy. As for the PDP, Opara refrained from delving deeply, stating, “It is already down and out of the ring.”
Opara credited APGA’s dominance to the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whose achievements in 34 months he described as “outstanding.” He argued that Governor Soludo’s administration has set a high standard of governance, making APGA a formidable force in the forthcoming elections.
In what appeared to be a note of triumph, Opara said, “What the opposition parties planned for APGA is now happening to them. The negative schemes they intended for us have come full circle and are now their burden to bear.”
He urged critics to present “unassailable facts” if they wished to challenge his analysis of the state’s political dynamics.
With primary elections around the corner, APGA remains confident, banking on Governor Soludo’s performance and the disarray within the opposition to maintain its stronghold in Anambra State.
