Madrid, Spain – The tax fraud trial of Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti concluded on Thursday, with Spanish public prosecutors reaffirming their demand for a four-year, nine-month prison sentence. Ancelotti is accused of concealing income from the tax authorities during his time in Spain.

Taking the stand on Wednesday at the High Court of Justice in Madrid, the Italian coach denied any wrongdoing. “I never considered committing fraud,” Ancelotti stated, maintaining his innocence.

The case revolves around alleged tax irregularities during his first stint as Real Madrid’s head coach from 2013 to 2015. Prosecutors argue that he failed to declare earnings linked to his image rights, while Ancelotti contends that he followed the advice of financial experts and had no intent to deceive the authorities.

A verdict on the case is expected in the coming weeks.
