Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has harshly criticized the security system under President Bola Tinubu, accusing it of exacerbating the nation’s security challenges and failing to prevent the growing violence and killings across Nigeria.
In a statement on Friday via X, Atiku described the worsening security situation as a “nationwide epidemic,” with the frequency of killings now so high that many incidents go unreported. His remarks came in light of the recent deadly attacks in Plateau State, particularly in Bokkos Local Government Area, which have claimed numerous lives.
“Atiku emphasized that under Tinubu, security issues have become endemic, with repeated killings that rarely make headlines anymore,” he said.
The former vice president expressed concern that Nigerians have become increasingly numb to the violence, which has now become a tragic routine. He renewed his call for a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s security framework, urging immediate action from the government.
“The Tinubu-led administration must urgently revamp its security architecture to ensure the protection of citizens and their properties,” Atiku stated.
His comments add to the growing public discontent with the ongoing insecurity that has plagued the country.
