Sports can be a powerful tool for promoting values, building communities, and addressing social issues, bearing in mind that it’s not a destination but a journey when carefully managed breeds innumerable successes.
Sadly, Anambra State despite contributing immensely to sports development not only in Nigeria but all over the world has sporting activities in the state still at the crawling stage and cannot boast of international standard stadia in the state.
Ruminating on this unfortunate circumstance, Chinyelugo who is ever thinking of how to better the lots of his people came up with effective bills which will enable funding of international standard stadia in all the major cities in the zone and sport centers at the community stage so that the youths can channel their energies to sporting activities; encourage intensive primary, secondary and tertiary sporting competition and ensure children and women are protected during sporting activities.
The bills will aim at curbing and eradicating criminalities as sporting activities will take up the youths’ time and energy; encourage people of all ages to engage in sports that will put them in shape and reduce deaths caused by certain health challenges like heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some cases of cancers; create job opportunities and generate revenue for the state.
