History was made last week in Owerri Imo State during the election of the State Exco Members of the New Nigeria People’s Party( NNPP).
The election which was free, fair and very credible in all ramifications proved to be a masterstroke in the annals of Imo political trajectory.
The election a true reflection of members of the party across the state, was devoid of brigandage, harassment, intimidation and fracas.
The crisis free election, churned up a political colossus and iroko in the person of Engr. Innocent Orji as the state Chairman. He was elected alongside other heavyweights as members of the state Exco.
Shortly after the election and subsequent swearing of the elected officials of the party, Engr. Innocent Orji who spoke on behalf of the newly elected Exco Members vowed to take over the administration of Imo State by winning the race to Douglas House come 2027.
The state party boss, assured the delegates, exco members and all the party to run an all inclusive government, as well as give NNPP whose slogan is New Nigeria, New Nigeria Progress accountability at its optimum.

The South East Zonal Chairman of the party and its National Vice Chairman Chief Barr. Chukwurah Chike Thompson was ably represented by the South East Zonal Youth Leader, Hon. Austin Nnadi, urged the state EXCO led by Engr. Orji to carry everyone along in the scheme of things, so as to endear the party to Imolites who have been grappling with ineptitude in governance over the years.
The event attracted the presence of Chief Barr. Obioha former Imo State NNPP Chairman and its Pioneer chairman in the state, former state Chairmen of the party and their Excos.
All the leaders who spoke called on the newly inaugurated State Exco of the party to work in synergy with the Local Government, Ward and the party Leaders to ensure a decisive membership drive across the state.
With greater zeal and all hands being on the deck, the State Exco, under the leadership of an amiable, down to earth political Personality like Engr. Innocent Orji, the party will permeate all the nooks and crannies of the State as well as making a statement in the political landscape of Imo.
