Businessman Dr. Tunde Ayeni has taken legal action against Ms. Adaobi Alagwu over a paternity dispute, filing a petition at an Abuja Customary Court. Ayeni is denying being the father of a child born to Alagwu, a claim he initially believed to be true.
Speaking to the press after the court session, Ayeni, who appeared with his wife, revealed that he had once accepted responsibility for the child but later discovered it was a setup. He explained that after realizing the situation, he took immediate steps to reverse his previous actions, including refunding the money he had paid for child support.
“This matter involves a girl trying to malign me, claiming I am the father of her child. Initially, I believed it was real and took responsible steps. However, I later found out it was all a setup, so I reversed those actions,” Ayeni said. “The money I paid for the child has been returned. I just want to clear my name and make it clear that there is no connection between me and the lady. She is a gold digger, but she has met the wrong person.”
Ayeni emphasized that he is prepared to present records and evidence to support his case. The court has adjourned the hearing until February 17 for further proceedings.
This legal move follows months of tension between Ayeni and Alagwu, after he was led to believe he was the father of the child. In an attempt to settle the dispute, Ayeni had earlier requested and received the return of the money he had paid to Alagwu’s family.
The case will continue next week as Ayeni seeks to clear his name once and for all.
