The Enugu State Government has issued a final notice of demolition for structures along two major road projects in the state: the Nike Lake Road dualization and the Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge. This demolition exercise, which is set to begin within 24 hours, affects property owners, residents, and business owners in the designated areas.
The affected roads include the 44.1km stretch from Peenox to Opi Nsukka Junction and the 21.5km stretch from Enugu Airport Road to the Ebonyi State border. The announcement follows previous notifications issued on October 30, 2024, and an evaluation of structures for compensation purposes conducted between November 4 and November 11, 2024.
The government has urged all individuals in the impacted areas to vacate their premises immediately and remove their belongings to prevent damage or loss of life. Property owners are directed to direct complaints to the Land/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee at the Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu.
The final notice emphasizes the urgency for compliance to avoid any negative consequences.
