Former Portsmouth defender Lucien Aubey has been sentenced to two years in prison, with 12 months suspended, after being found guilty of fraud by a court in Toulouse.
Aubey was convicted of conning a friend out of more than £120,000 in 2015 by persuading him to invest in a record label. The trial revealed that Aubey and co-accused Mohamed Dia promised the victim, identified only as Sebastien, a return of £1 million within three years.
Sebastien, who had received a £170,000 payout following a road accident, later sought repayment but claimed he was met with threats against his children.
The court handed down the sentence on Wednesday, bringing an end to the long-running legal case.
