Former Niger Delta militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed optimism that suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will soon return to office.

Speaking during his 54th birthday celebration at the Aziza Temple in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Tompolo revealed that ongoing dialogue between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is progressing toward a peaceful resolution of their political differences.

“Our son in Rivers State will come back to sit on the throne,” Tompolo declared, reaffirming his belief in reconciliation and stability in the state.

Addressing criticisms over his initial silence on Fubara’s suspension, Tompolo reiterated his unwavering commitment to the Ijaw nation. He called for unity among the Ijaw people, urging them to avoid divisive rhetoric and focus on collective progress and peace.

Governor Fubara was controversially suspended in March, leading to the appointment of a sole administrator to oversee the affairs of Rivers State for an initial six-month period. The suspension has triggered political tension and drawn widespread concern.
