Gas Tanker Explosion Kills Many, Sparks Chaos on Abuja-Keffi Road

A tragic explosion occurred on Wednesday near the Karu Bridge on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway, leaving an unconfirmed number of people dead and many others injured. The incident, caused by a gas tanker bursting into flames, engulfed several vehicles and disrupted traffic on the busy road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The explosion took place during rush hour as commuters were returning from work and other daily activities. Multiple blasts followed the initial fire, creating widespread panic. Emergency responders, including personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies, were quickly deployed to the scene to provide rescue services and manage the situation.

Eyewitnesses reported severe gridlock along the expressway, forcing many commuters to abandon their vehicles. As of 8:30 p.m., vehicles remained stranded in both directions, unable to move due to the ongoing crisis.
