
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has secured the conviction of a 66-year-old man, Ibrahim Musa, for human trafficking in Yobe State.
In a statement on its verified Facebook page on Saturday, the agency revealed that Musa was found guilty of procuring and exploiting a 14-year-old female victim.
He was arraigned before the Yobe State High Court II, Damaturu, presided over by Hon. Justice Lawu Lawan. The crime, which violated Sections 13 and 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, led to his conviction on January 6, 2025.
Musa, who was first arraigned on January 12, 2023, has now been sentenced to five years in prison.
