
In a significant tribute to the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Ikeja Military Cantonment has been officially renamed the “T.A. Lagbaja Cantonment Ikeja.” The renaming ceremony, which took place at the Ikeja Military Cantonment in Lagos, was attended by key figures including the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Olufemi Oluyede, and other top military officials.
The event, organized by the Nigerian Army and Ministry of Defence, saw military leaders and senior Lagos State government officials come together to honor the outstanding legacy of the late General Lagbaja, whose leadership and dedication to the Nigerian Army left an indelible mark on the nation’s defense.
General Christopher Musa expressed deep appreciation for the decision to rename the cantonment, calling it a fitting tribute to General Lagbaja’s exemplary service. He noted, “I am deeply elated that the leadership of the Nigerian Army has chosen to honor Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s legacy by renaming the Ikeja Cantonment after him for his excellent and admirable works and leadership in the Army.”
Among the dignitaries present were Mrs. Mariam Abiodun Lagbaja, the wife of the late COAS, and other high-ranking officials who celebrated the life and contributions of General Lagbaja, whose memory will now live on in the renamed military base.
