The opposition lawmakers’ coalition has alerted Nigerians about an alleged move by pro-Wike members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to block the presentation of the 2025 budget, despite the Supreme Court’s directive.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, their spokesperson, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, accused the lawmakers of deliberately ignoring the governor’s attempts to present the budget, stating that their actions aim to create chaos and make Rivers people suffer.
The lawmakers also warned of a fresh plot by pro-Wike legislators to disrupt the Rivers State local government election.
They alleged that these lawmakers plan to amend LGA laws to reinstate former local government chairmen whose tenures have ended. However, they assured Rivers residents that the elections would proceed as scheduled, regardless of any illegal amendments.
