Popular Nigerian comedian Igosave has raised concerns over what he describes as the excessive data consumption rates imposed by internet service providers in Nigeria. In a social media post, he accused providers—mockingly referring to them as “Yah00 Pro Max”—of ripping off subscribers with unfair data depletion practices.
Comparing data usage in Nigeria to that in the UK, Igosave lamented that a 20GB data plan, which lasts a month in the UK, barely survives three days in Nigeria. He called on the government to step in and investigate what he believes to be a deliberate exploitation of consumers.
“We need the government to investigate these providers. Nigerians are paying so much for so little. This is daylight robbery!” he wrote.
