The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Abdulmalik Sanni for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, stating that the incident occurred on February 28, 2025.
The victim, accompanied by her father, reported the incident to the police on March 2, 2025. She alleged that Sanni bought her Indomie noodles, and after consuming them, she fell asleep in his room. While she was asleep, he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. Upon waking up, she found herself naked.
Following the report, investigators were assigned to the case, and statements were obtained from both the complainant and the suspect. The police stated that Sanni confessed to the crime but claimed the victim was his girlfriend.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
