The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported a successful airstrike operation, conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, that resulted in the destruction of three terrorist gun trucks and the elimination of numerous insurgent fighters. The targeted location was a terrorist enclave situated north of Chiralia, within the volatile Timbuktu Triangle region.

According to a statement released by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy NAF Spokesman, the operation, carried out over the weekend, was triggered by actionable intelligence provided by ground troops. This intelligence tracked the movement of three terrorist gun trucks from Sabon Gari towards Chiralia.

Responding rapidly to the intelligence, the Air Component deployed fighter jets to execute an Air Interdiction (AI) mission. Upon reaching the target area, NAF pilots identified a significant number of terrorists and their gun trucks, which were concealed beneath dense foliage.

“The NAF aircraft, employing precision and overwhelming force, engaged the targets with rockets and cannons, resulting in the obliteration of two of the vehicles,” stated Group Captain Ali. “As the insurgents attempted to relocate the third gun truck, a subsequent strike was launched, leading to its complete destruction.”

“The intense firepower ignited all targeted vehicles, and numerous terrorists attempting to escape were neutralized in the ensuing aftermath,” he added.

The statement emphasized that this operation underscores the NAF’s unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, restricting insurgent mobility, and delivering crucial air support to ground forces.

The NAF reiterated its resolve to continue its counterterrorism operations, ensuring that insurgents are denied safe havens and contributing to the restoration of security and stability throughout the North-East region.
