Outrage As Tinubu’s SA, Onanuga Calls Nigerians ‘Idiots’
Netizens have called out President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for calling Nigerians ‘idiots.’
Onanuga had, while replying to a tweet by an X user, @DOlusegun, who posted the picture of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s sallah homage to Tinubu, referred to those who earlier said Wike was sick and flown abroad as ‘idiots.’
There was rumour over the weekend that Wike suffered stroke and had to be flown abroad for treatment. However, his visit to the Aso Villa on Sallah day has dispel that rumour.
Onanuga in his tweet, wrote, “Here is Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, reported by some online idiots to have suffered a stroke and flown abroad.”
Reacting to the tweet, an X user, Aare of Abuja @NonsoEzeani1, advised Onanuga to always remember he will not be in the position forever.
“Always remember a former presidential spokesperson called Femi Adeshina who often took the liberty to address Nigerians with unprintable words. Like Him, you will be out of political office someday & your road to infamy will be as fast as His. You will have your day with history,” he wrote
Another X user, Tribunal Boss @tribunal_tribu, blasted Onanuga, saying, “This is how callous you are! Calling your citizen idiots, when ordinarily you guys know their plight. Strengthen institutions, devoid of political interference. Shikina.”
Ragnarok @SimoncoleB, wrote, “I was stunned reading your tweet, I can’t believe you literally called people idiots. You are supposed to be a veteran journalist. What happened to you? Where did it go wrong? This is unbecoming of a journalist of your standing. Was it when you joined the APC? How do you post such vile stuff about your people? Your tweet reeks of hate nike revolution 7 and bitterness.”
Moses Oshomah @MosesOshoma, in his reply, said “It is in Bayo Onanuga’s character to talk like someone in a booze joint. Was he not the same fellow who dubbed the Igbo an “existential threat” to the Yoruba and whipped up ethnic sentiments sometime ago? He reminds me of his brother, Femi Adesina, who talks the same way.”
