Nigerian-born footballer Callum Latif Olusesi has signed his first professional senior team contract with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

JBorn in London to Nigerian parents, Olusesi has been a standout talent in England’s youth ranks. He made his competitive debut for England’s U-17 team in nNovember 2023, featuring in a European Championship qualifier against the Faroe Islands. In the next match, he scored twice in a victory over Kosovo.

Olusesi was also part of England’s squad for the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, playing in all four matches, including their quarter-final exit against Italy.

With his rapid development, questions are being raised about his international future. Nigeria’s Super Eagles, under new head coach Eric Chelle, could look to persuade the promising midfielder to switch allegiance. If called up, Olusesi would follow in the footsteps of other dual-nationality players who have chosen Nigeria over European nations.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to make an official approach, but Olusesi’s growing reputation could put him on Chelle’s radar as the Super Eagles rebuild for future tournaments.
