OAU student murder: Adedoyin to die by hanging, Appeal Court affirms

OAU student murder

The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, has affirmed the death sentence of Ramon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotels, who was convicted of murdering Timothy Adegoke, a former Master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

In its judgment delivered on Thursday, the appellate court upheld the ruling of the Osun State High Court, confirming that the original judgment still stands.

The judgement reads in parts: “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part.

“The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death.

“Order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel quashed and set aside.

“Order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others quashed and set aside.”

Persecondnews recalls that in a judgment delivered in May 2023, the Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo, pronounced Adedoyin and two staff members of the hotel guilty of murder.

The court went further to sentence Adedoyin, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem to death.

It, however, freed three of the hotel workers — Magdalene Chiefuna, Oluwole Lawrence and Adebayo Kunle.

Adegoke was found dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife, where he (the deceased) had lodged.
