Obaigbena Accused of Blackmailing High Court Judges Over Frozen Accounts, Seized Vessel

Publisher of ThisDay Newspaper and owner of Arise TV, Nduka Obaigbena, has allegedly been blackmailing High Court judges in a desperate bid to unfreeze his accounts and reclaim a seized vessel, TAMARA TOKONI (IMO: 8302131), following a court order.

It will be recalled that on December 30, 2024, FirstBank obtained an injunction against Obaigbena and his family, freezing all accounts linked to him and preventing him from using funds due to the bank to sustain his lavish lifestyle.

According to sources, Obaigbena, now facing financial difficulties, has resorted to threats and coercion, targeting judicial officers handling his cases. He has allegedly been pressuring the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, with threats to expose alleged corrupt dealings unless his accounts are unfrozen and judgments are ruled in his favor. Reports indicate that Justice Tsoho, in turn, has been reaching out to judges overseeing Obaigbena’s cases, urging them to rule in his favor.

In addition to his alleged blackmail of judicial officers, Obaigbena is reportedly strong-arming banks and business executives into purchasing tables for up to ₦200 million at the upcoming Women Awards, scheduled for March 31, 2025. Sources reveal that businesses that refuse to comply risk being blacklisted and subjected to negative publicity through his media platforms.
