As the preeminent Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo unequivocally stands as a bastion of truth, justice, and integrity in Nigeria’s complex political environment. It is with profound concern and unwavering resolve that we bring to light the emergence of a calculated and malevolent political conspiracy aimed at subverting the re-election aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. This insidious campaign transcends Nigeria’s multifaceted political, religious, and ethnic divides, manifesting as a collective effort designed to exploit the current economic hardships, endemic insecurity, and the perceived neglect by the Federal Government.
At the forefront of this coalition of dissent are influential political actors, including two former Presidents and past military Heads of State, along with disillusioned elites from the opposition and discontented factions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Alarmingly, these elements have gained tacit support from certain global powers, further amplifying their resolve to destabilize the current administration.
In this ominous context, Ohanaeze Ndigbo finds it imperative to alert President Tinubu that two governors from the South-South region, in concert with three governors from the Southeast, have conspicuously aligned themselves with this calculated political gang-up against his 2027 re-election endeavors. Their actions constitute an unacceptable and audacious attempt to co-opt leadership elements within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, driven by a desire to politically undermine the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, in his home state of Rivers. This is not merely an exercise in political maneuvering; it is a systematic effort to incite discontent among the Nigerian populace by exploiting genuine economic grievances and widespread insecurity, thereby encouraging unrest.
We assert, with unequivocal clarity, that these governors harbor ulterior motives aimed at mobilizing disillusioned Nigerians—particularly within the Igbo Nation—into their ill-conceived revolutionary movements as we approach the politically charged years of 2025 and 2026, leading up to the pivotal 2027 presidential elections. Their schemes are cunningly designed to cultivate a narrative of dissent that not only vilifies President Tinubu but also positions themselves as astute and compassionate leaders, cloaked in a benevolent facade of concern for the nation’s welfare.
The desperation displayed by these governors serves a dual purpose: firstly, to compel President Tinubu into acquiescing to their political demands, which would jeopardize his invaluable relationships with key allies across the South-South and Southeast regions—including Barr Nyesom Wike, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, and other prominent ministers within his administration. Secondly, these governors intend to manipulate the esteemed platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to galvanize the Igbo Nation into an unreliable alliance with Northern political establishments aimed explicitly at unseating President Tinubu.
To this end, we must shine a spotlight on the actions of Governor Hope Uzodinma, who, amidst considerable controversy, allegedly procured the 2023 APC Presidential Nomination Form for former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, positioning himself in opposition to President Tinubu. Furthermore, reports suggest that he has sought to influence former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu to act contrary to the interests of President Tinubu during the critical 2023 APC primaries. Alarmingly, an ongoing secret alignment appears to be forming among these opposition figures and disgruntled APC governors, indicating a concerted effort to undermine the presidency.
These factions are unyieldingly working towards a singular goal: to craft a broader political alliance with Northern cabals and major ethnic leadership organizations encompassing the North, Middle Belt, Southeast, Southwest, and Niger-Delta. This unholy alliance seeks to muster a formidable front aimed at destabilizing, and ultimately removing, President Tinubu from office ahead of the 2027 elections.
Our intelligence suggests that without immediate and decisive action to mitigate the multifaceted adverse influences stemming from the significant economic downturn and escalating insecurity, those orchestrating this gang-up will undoubtedly exploit the grievances of the Nigerian populace as a potent weapon to achieve their narrow ambitions for political power in 2027.
In closing, Ohanaeze Ndigbo reiterates unequivocally that both President Tinubu and FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike stand as the primary targets in this egregious plot, one that aims to usurp and hijack the formidable platform of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
We appeal with the utmost urgency to all members of our esteemed Igbo community, as well as all patriotic Nigerians, to unite against these insidious political machinations that threaten our democratic principles and collective future. The time for vigilance and proactive engagement is upon us—together, we must resolutely defend our legacy, affirm our rights, and secure our rightful place in the nation’s governance.
