The Ondo State Government has firmly dismissed reports circulating in some online media platforms alleging that armed herdsmen attacked communities in the state, leading to the death of some farmers.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Security Matters, Chief Olugbenga Atiba, described the report as “a malicious fabrication” intended to cause unnecessary panic among residents.
“We want to state categorically that this report is not only an absolute falsehood but an attempt by the sponsors of the fake news to create panic among the residents of the state,” the statement read.
Chief Atiba further urged those behind the spread of the false information to desist from acts capable of inciting chaos, disunity, and distrust between the people and the government.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents, he noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to prioritize the security of lives and property across the state.
“It is public knowledge that the government of Ondo State, efficiently led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, prioritizes the security of lives and property of every resident of the state where they live, work, and play,” the statement added.
Residents were advised to disregard the fake news and go about their lawful activities without fear, as the state continues to enjoy a peaceful and secure environment. I
