An economist and one of the chieftains of the Labour Party, Pat Utomi has spoken about the political uproar in Rivers state.

His statement was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Friday. His statement is coming after the former governor of Rivers state and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike said heaven will not fall if Rivers Gov, Siminalayi Fubara is impeached.

According to Vanguard, the FCT Minister said if the governor has committed an impeacheable offense, he should be impeached.

He was quoted as saying that;

“The point I am making is, if he has committed an infraction on the constitution and the Assembly deems it fit to say he should be impeached, then fine. Is he the first person that would be threatened with impeachment? Don’t you know what to do? What’s all this hullabaloo about impeachment?”.

Reacting after the report surfaced online, Pat Utomi stated that the seeds of anarchy being planted in Rivers state will lead to economic stagnation and also compound insecurity.

Here is what Pat Utomi wrote on his page;

“How does it escape us that the seeds of anarchy being planted in Rivers State, the weaponization of poverty so we can recruit the poor to protest on our behalf and the programmed discord in most political parties, invariably lead us to economic stagnation, compounded insecurity and food insecurity”.
