PDP Rift Deepens as Bala Mohammed Fires Back at Wike’s Allegations

Bala Mohammed, wike

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has issued a scathing response to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, accusing him of betrayal, treachery, and attempts to weaken the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Bala Mohammed described Wike’s recent remarks as “reckless and puerile,” asserting that they mark a new low in political discourse. He accused Wike of working against the PDP while serving as a tool for the ruling APC.

The statement highlighted Bala Mohammed’s contributions to national unity, citing his historic move to save Nigeria from a constitutional crisis in 2010 and his accomplishments as FCT Minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan. In contrast, Wike was labeled as a “serial betrayer” with a history of turning against political benefactors, including former Rivers Governor Peter Odili and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.

The statement further criticized Wike’s governance style in the FCT, accusing him of prioritizing demolitions over meaningful development. It called on Wike to officially join the APC, accusing him of undermining the PDP and its efforts to challenge the APC in 2027.

“Sen. Bala Mohammed is a courageous leader committed to strengthening the PDP and providing visionary leadership in Bauchi State. Wike’s antics cannot tarnish his reputation or distract from his achievements,” the statement concluded.

The development underscores the ongoing rift within the PDP, as party leaders navigate internal tensions and plan for the 2027 general elections.
