President Bola Tinubu has approved the conversion of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) into a university, according to Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa.
Speaking during a visit to the institution, Alausa highlighted YABATECH’s readiness for the upgrade, citing its strong academic staff.
He also praised the college’s maintenance culture and reaffirmed the federal government’s support for technical and vocational education.
Emphasizing innovation in AI, robotics, and coding, he said these fields could help reduce the “Japa Syndrome” by enabling Nigerians to work remotely for global firms.
