President Tinubu Should Declare State Of Emergency On The Failing Security Architecture And Comatose Economy Instead Of Rivers State

Tinubu

It’s crystal clear, even to the blind that Nigerian economy is near collapse. It’s practically crawling on its belly with no respite in sight. I do not think it needs to be emphasized that something has to be done and urgently too. It’s often said that drastic situations require drastic measures. The nation is on life support gasping for breathe. The President should step in to rescucitate the ailing, dying economy.
It’s evidently clear that Nigeria’s economy has been in a precarious state for several years. The country has been struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the global economic recession, the COVID-19 pandemic, dwindling oil revenues and a plethora of other challenges. As the economic situation continues to deteriorate, many Nigerians have been calling for drastic measures to be taken to address the crisis.

Apart from the lingering and ravaging economic crisis starring us in the face, the security architecture of the country is on the brink of collapse. On daily basis, crimes and criminalities that have the tendencies of constituting existential threats are perpetrated with reckless abandon. As it stands in Nigeria, security of life and property has taken a flight. We are no longer safe. The government of the day has abandoned its primary responsibility of securing lives and property. It’s really befuddling that the BAT-led government is busy pursuing rats when the house is on fire. It’s a notorious fact that insecurity is rocking the foundation of the country whereas the presidency is already pre-occupied with the politics of 2027.

I’m of the candid opinion that, instead of declaring a state of emergency and creating a constitutional conundrum in Rivers State, he should rather declare state of emergency on the economy and security. With the economy in a state of free fall, the President should take drastic measures to prevent a complete collapse of the economy.

Declaring a state of emergency to revive Nigeria’s comatose economy is a drastic measure that has to be done without further delay.

At this critical time in the nation’s political history, the President should resist any form of distraction and focus on why he is occupying the presidential seat.
It’s not enough to seek power, it’s what you do with the power that is of paramount consideration.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should face what is facing him and stop pursuing shadow.
