Anambra State has received glowing commendations from Engr. Johnson Nwankwo, a resident of Port Harcourt, following his yuletide visit to the South-East region. Sharing his experiences in a WhatsApp group convened by Nze Uche Nworah (Anambra First), Engr. Nwankwo detailed his observations during his tour across the South-East states between December 18, 2024, and January 8, 2025.
In his review titled My Visit to the East This Yuletide, Engr. Nwankwo described the infrastructural development in the region as a “glorious moment” and commended the healthy competition among South-Eastern governors. However, he reserved his highest praise for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.
“Besides insecurity, Soludo ranks as one of the best-performing governors, especially on infrastructure, when juxtaposed against other Eastern governors,” he remarked.
Nwankwo admitted that he had previously held a negative opinion of Governor Soludo, influenced by criticisms on social platforms. However, his visit to Anambra altered his perspective.
“I was actually disappointed with some submissions on this platform; I thought Soludo was a complete failure! My advice is that we should visit other states before arriving at a conclusion,” he advised.
During his stay in Enugu, which lasted eight days, Engr. Nwankwo noted a cautiously secure environment but expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of infrastructural development compared to what he witnessed in Anambra.
According to him, no previous governor of Anambra State comes close to matching Soludo’s achievements, even if Soludo’s tenure ends after one term. “If Soludo can just address the insecurity in Anambra State, his first term alone will dwarf other previous governors’ two terms,” Nwankwo asserted.
His final remark underscored his transformation from a critic to an admirer: Seeing is believing.
Engr. Johnson Nwankwo hails from Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
