
Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has publicly apologized to former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, after she was insulted by Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi during a heated exchange at the Senate Ethics Committee hearing on Tuesday, March 25.
The confrontation occurred during deliberations on the sexual harassment allegations Akpoti-Uduaghan had brought against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. As tensions rose, Ezekwesili, who was present at the hearing, told Nwaebonyi to “shut up,” prompting him to respond with, “You’re an insult to womanhood.”
Following the incident, Akpoti-Uduaghan took to X to express her regret and appreciation for Ezekwesili, acknowledging that she bore the insult while standing in support. She praised the former minister as a “true icon of integrity, courage, and visionary leadership,” recognizing her contributions to governance, education, and democracy.
Akpoti-Uduaghan concluded her message by celebrating Ezekwesili’s brilliance, resilience, and selfless service to the nation, calling her a hero and a champion of accountability.
