Protesters gathered on Monday at Ikeja Under Bridge, Lagos, as part of a nationwide demonstration organised by the Take-It-Back Movement and other civil society groups.

The protest, aimed at drawing attention to pressing national issues, kicked off early in the day with participants holding placards and chanting solidarity messages.

Top among the concerns raised were the alleged misuse of the Cybercrime Act, worsening economic conditions, and what organisers described as a “state of emergency” in Rivers State.

Placards carried by the demonstrators bore messages such as, “Any law that forbids us from speaking against oppression is no longer a law but shackles of slavery,” and “When law becomes a tool of oppression, unite to repeal it.”

Police officers were present at the scene to provide security and maintain order.

In a statement released prior to the protest, National Coordinator of the Take-It-Back Movement, Juwon Sanyaolu, said the rally was a peaceful resistance against growing authoritarianism and a call for urgent relief for Nigerians struggling with inflation and insecurity.

Photos from the scene captured the vibrant atmosphere and strong police presence.
