In a bold and controversial move, the Trump administration has unveiled a new mobile application, CBP Home, aimed at encouraging the voluntary departure of undocumented migrants from the United States. The app replaces the Biden-era CBP One platform, which had been used to schedule immigration appointments and grant temporary legal status through humanitarian parole.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the updated app allows migrants—specifically those paroled under the previous administration—to declare their intent to leave the U.S. and upload proof of departure. The shift marks a dramatic change in tone and approach from facilitating entry to enforcing exit.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who announced the launch, said the new app is a direct response to what she called the “failures” of the Biden administration’s immigration policy.

“The Biden administration exploited the CBP One app to allow more than one million aliens to illegally enter the United States,” Noem stated. “With the launching of the CBP Home app, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system.”

Secretary Noem emphasized that CBP Home offers undocumented migrants a final opportunity to leave the country voluntarily. She warned that failure to do so would result in strict enforcement.

“The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return,” she added.

The announcement follows a series of sweeping immigration measures implemented by President Donald Trump since returning to office. On his first day, Trump ordered the immediate suspension of humanitarian parole programs and halted all processing through the CBP One app. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also been authorized to revoke parole statuses issued during the Biden era.

Critics have called the move a harsh crackdown on vulnerable migrants, while supporters argue it’s a necessary step toward border security and restoring law and order in immigration enforcement.

As of now, all devices with the CBP One app are being automatically updated to CBP Home. DHS encourages eligible individuals to use the platform promptly to avoid future legal consequences.

The new app is now available for download on major app stores, though it remains to be seen how migrants and advocacy groups will respond to this unprecedented digital push for self-deportation.
