The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, earlier today launched the State’s National Human Capital Development (HCD) Accelerator Project and the ARISE Human Capital Development Strategy in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Following the official launch, Vice President Shettima embarked on an inspection tour of several ongoing ARISE HCD projects, including the construction of model primary schools and the ARISE Park—an innovative environmental reclamation and green space initiative.
In his remarks, the Vice President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to significantly improving Nigeria’s ranking on the Global Human Capital Index (HCI), with an ambitious target of positioning the country among the top 80 nations by 2030.
“This goal can be achieved by enhancing our workforce capabilities and improving socioeconomic outcomes across all sectors,” he stated.
He commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for being the first to implement the national HCD blueprint across all local government areas, describing the move as a model for other states.
“Every policy or programme that intervenes in the lives of our people can only succeed if it’s rooted in the grassroots. The true wealth of any nation lies in the strength of its human capital—the education of its children, the health of its citizens, and the productivity of its workforce,” Vice President Shettima emphasized.
The launch marks a significant step in the national push to invest in people and build a more resilient and prosperous Nigeria through strategic human capital development.
